On Thursday 29 September we hosted our second annual fund raising art auction event in Sandton, Johannesburg. The event was attended by 250 guests and over R1million was raised through the auction of contemporary South African art generously donated by artists, collectors and galleries.
Having had to change the venue at short notice, from the University of the Witwatersrand, First Rand was quick to respond by offering their training and conference venue in Sandton and a team of dedicated volunteers worked tirelessly to transform the space into a glamorous event in a matter of 48 hours. Olives and Plates, together with their suppliers, donated the food, which included a three course meal that was befitting for the black tie event. To keep the evening flowing and the energy levels high, comedian Nick Rabinowitz gave of his time and flew up from Cape Town to emcee the evening, which was a resounding success.
